A full-time Japanese school will open in Irapuato next April.
Provide primary and secondary education for Japanese children who live in the area.

A Japanese school is newly established in Irapuato, and can accommodate 270 students. The initial cost of establishment is 420 million yen (construction cost and management cost), and it is approximately 722.2 million pesos in the Mexican peso. The school facilities include nine classrooms, four multipurpose rooms, a laboratory, a gymnasium, and a playground.

In the full-time system from Monday to Friday, education is given in the same curriculum as Japanese elementary and junior high schools, and teachers are dispatched from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

As the school year in Japan starts on April 1 (by March 31, next year), it is expected to be opened from next year.

There are already two Japanese schools in Mexico, the Japan-Mexico Gakuin (Liseo) and the Aguascalientes Japanese School, with Guanajuato being the third school.

The project is being run in collaboration with Japanese companies in the region to establish this new school, and has received financial support from approximately 100 Japanese companies including Mazda, Honda and Toyota.

From January of this year, the preparatory committee will be formed, led by Tomoharu Mizutani of Mazda Motor Corporation (Salamanka), and members of the committee are engaged in activities such as financing and business planning.

According to President Mizutani, who is a member of the Preparatory Committee, the new school will be constructed on the land donated by local businessmen, and the Japanese government will provide construction cost support and local Japanese companies will also provide financial support. The goal is to create a school that can be used by Japanese families living in the Bahio district.

“The number of Japanese families living in this area tends to increase year after year, so it is necessary to build a Japanese school,” said Mizutani.

At the Japanese language supplement school currently in Irapuato, basic subjects such as math and Japanese are being held on the weekend.

The administration of Irapuato’s supplementary school will continue for the next three years, aiming for a complete transition to a full-time Japanese school.

Established Japanese supplementary school in Queretaro

According to Toyota’s director Kuga, a Japanese remedial school will be set up in Queretaro to provide further educational opportunities for the Japanese community in the Bahio district. Currently, I am considering a rental school in Queretaro in order to start operation with about 100 students in the same system as the supplementary school is operated at Irapuato city Alexander Bain.

By establishing Japanese schools and supplementary schools in Irapuato and Queretaro, it is possible to cover most of the Japanese communities living in the Bahio district (Leon, Irapuato, Salamanca, Celaya, Queretaro).

We aim to be a bridge between Japanese companies and the local community and a cultural bridge.
